Lunch Along Burlingame Avenue, Burlingame California
A new restaurant opened up on Burlingame Avenue on yesterday. La Corneta Taqueria’s Grand Opening celebration ran all day and into the evening hours. Alex and I decided to have lunch there to see what they were all about. We didn’t go over there until close to 2:30 so the big lunch rush was likely over. The restaurant is painted in bright blocks of color and has a wonderful mural along the back wall. This is a taqueria with reasonable prices and fresh food. It’s La Corneta’s fourth location. They have two San Francisco locations and one in Redwood City and from the reviews online they’re well loved by their diners.
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful while we went through the order line selecting our food choices. Our food was tasty and we enjoyed sitting near the front window looking out on Burlingame Avenue. The owners were sitting nearby watching the crowd and as we left they asked us to come back at 6 PM when the Mariachi band would be there playing. We would have loved to, but unfortunately had another engagement. I don’t think the band will be a regular feature, but if it is, evenings will certainly be enlivened on Burlingame Avenue!
I think this will be a winner for Burlingame. Its close to Burlingame High School, so will likely fill up with students after classes let out. Prices are reasonable. The food is fresh and made the way you like. The menu is pretty extensive. So, for a quick lunch or dinner, this is a good place to stop. I know well be back.
