The Foster City Community Chorus, and Heart & Soul, is performing today and tomorrow at The Church of the Epiphany, 1839 Arroyo Ave, in San Carlos.  If you love the Beatles you’ll love this performance.  Musical Director Paul Hurst took the original scores of the Beatles and transcribed them for choral voice.  Come and hear the music performed as it originally was done by the Beatles.  Tickets are $18 each, at the door.  Performances are at 3 PM.  Directions to The Church of the Epiphany are here and it’s easy to get to from every where on the Peninsula.

Listening to music is a great way to spend an afternoon and the concert is taking place at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos. This church is easy to find sitting at the corner of Brittan and Alameda De Las Pulgas. There’s plenty of free parking,too.

The frosting on the cake will be listening to our Musical Director and Conductor Paul Hurst play Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin, on the grand piano. Mr. Hurst last performed this in Italy in January. He is a world-class Harpist and Pianist. This is not to be missed and worth the admission price alone! He will also perform some ragtime on the harp and I know you havent heard that before.

Alex and I like to bill ourselves ˜the Singing Realtors, and have great fun learning the music and performing for the public. If you like jazz you’ll love the vocals and the amazing jazz musicians backing up Heart & Soul, a chorale of 17 singers. Alex and I perform in the chorus and I also sing with Heart & Soul.

Tickets are available at the door for $15. The concert starts at 3 PM both on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Why dont you take a couple of hours off to come and listen and relax. You wont regret it.

Also taking place this Saturday and Sunday  in downtown San Carlos is the  10th Annual Sidewalk Fine Arts and Crafts Festival.  This takes place along Laurel Street beginning at San Carlos Avenue and running south for five or six blocks.  It’s free and a chance to see some great local artists. The company that puts this on also does the Wine and Art Festival in October.

The 51st Annual Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance is taking place on Sunday from 10AM to 4 PM on the fields of North School and Crock Middle School. This is the major fundraiser for the Hillsborough Elementary School District. This Concours draws cars from around the country and is a fun day in the sun.  It is the longest running event on the West Coast. Along with the car show is a festival for children.

You can’t go wrong when the The Music Man is playing and it’s being performed right now at the Hillbarn Theatre in Foster City.  We are very lucky to have this gem of a theater right in our community.  It’s the sixth oldest community theater in the United States and will be beginning its 67th Season.  Performances begin this weekend and you can buy tickets online.  Don’t wait too long though, because the weekend matinees are almost sold out now.  It runs through Sunday June 3.
