The Place to Be Friday Night is San Mateo’s Wine Walk

This Friday evening between 5:30 and 9 PM downtown San Mateo is the place to be for the 14th annual San Mateo Downtown Association’s Wine Walk. This year the Weatherman is promising WARM weather making this event even better than previous years. It’s always fun walking around downtown on a warm night and Friday is lookin’ good.

Here’s the deal; purchase your tickets in advance for $25 or the day of the event for $30 and what you get is a sampling of wines from 27 local wineries, tastey hors d’oeuvres and great music to make the evening even better. You’ll need proof of age when you pick up your wine glass and off you go. Obviously safety is important so keep in mind San Mateo’s trusty Police Department will be there in force so keep to moderation, okay?

Advance sale tickets can be purchased at the Downtown Association’s office at 385 First Ave; Trag’s Market at 303 Baldwin; Borel Private Bank at 160 Bovet Rd.; and the San Mateo Public Library at 55 West Third Ave. Tickets can be purchased or exchanged for wine glasses on Friday night at 3rd and Ellsworth beginning at 4 PM.

The Wine Walk allows you to wander downtown, go visit some of the businesses there that you may never have been to before, enjoy the wine and hors d’oeuvres and stop and for dinner afterwards. What’s not to like? Remember, parking can be hard downtown, especially with the Friday night movie crowd, so plan your parking carefully.

Tonight is the 13th Annual Wine Walk in downtown San Mateo with over 15 wineries and many local restaurants teaming up to pair wine and food. Tickets are $30 for a wine glass and as much tasting as you can hold. Come downtown and enjoy music, food and wine and spend the evening with friends and neighbors. if you haven’t bought your ticket in advance they can be purchased at the several locations around town.

Downtown San Mateo Association – 385 First Avenue
– 445 South B Street
Borel Private Bank & Trust – 160 Bovet
Trag’s Market – 303 Baldwin
San Mateo Pubic Library – 55 W. Third Ave.

Come and stroll down Third Avenue, it’s going to be closed to traffic, and stop at the two stages for continuous musical entertainment from 5:30 – 9:30 PM. One stage will be at Third and Ellsworth and the other at Third and San Mateo Drive. Both Ellsworth and San Mateo Drive will be closed to traffic, as well. The Wine Walk is the main fundraising event for the Downtown San Mateo Business Association. You can stop into many of the shops on both Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue to sample wines, shop and enjoy yourself.

You must show proof of age when buying your ticket, but you can bring your family along to enjoy the music and festivities. Wine glasses are going to be sold and or picked up with pre-event tickets at Third and Ellsworth all day long. All wine tasting must take place within the closed area of the event.
